Available options
Access to Microsoft 365 resources
Toggle on Always consent access to your Microsoft 365 resources to consent to the Azure ShareGate Desktop application.
Consenting access to your Microsoft 365 resources allows ShareGate Desktop to identify to Microsoft 365 that it is running operations on your tenant through an access token.
It does this through the Azure ShareGate Desktop app in your Azure Active Directory.
Administrator rights
Toggle on Auto-assign as administrator to allow ShareGate Desktop to auto-assign Site Collection Administrator permissions when you connect to your environment.
For full functionality, we recommend Site Collection Administrator permissions (even if you have higher admin permissions).
This allows ShareGate Desktop to automatically grant your user account the required rights when you access a site collection.
This is toggled off by default.
Note: This option only works when you are connected directly to your Microsoft 365 Tenant or SharePoint farm. This only applies to the user account that is used to connect to the tenant or farm. Permissions added in this way will not be removed automatically. To undo this action, you can follow the guide here.
Security
Toggle on Allow ShareGate Desktop to connect using invalid certificates to allow ShareGate Desktop to connect using invalid certificates.
This is toggled off by default.
Note: If you attempt to connect using an invalid certificate with this option toggled off, you will receive a warning prompt offering you the option to allow or cancel the connection.
Telemetry
Toggle off Enable usage data and errors to be sent to ShareGate to disable ShareGate Desktop from collecting telemetry data on its usage.
Telemetry data is used when planning new features and improvements to better match what users are doing with ShareGate Desktop. No confidential information will ever be collected with this option toggled on.
This is toggled on by default.
