Display system lists
To display system list, toggle on (toggle is off by default).
System lists include lists such as Access Requests, Master Page Gallery, etc. If you choose to display them, they will show in the Explorer tree. This makes the operations you perform run on system lists. For example, if you perform a Find operation on a site to find documents larger than a given size, this option will impact whether or not the results include documents found in system lists.
Display redirect sites
SharePoint redirect sites will be displayed in the explorer.
Toggling this option on will display SharePoint Online redirect sites created after a site address is changed or moved to a new geo location.
This keeps a local copy of your SharePoint sites and settings, which speeds up operations considerably.
Change the number to set how many days the cache is kept for. Click Clear Cache if you would like to delete all the data (recommended if you have updates on your SharePoint environments).
The first time a query is performed, ShareGate Desktop queries the targeted SharePoint sites and then stores all of the obtained information in a local cache that will then be used for subsequent queries. These results will significantly improve query time, often immediately displaying the query results.
Note: To bypass the local cache for a specific report, you can turn it off from the select targets window, just before running it. See Walkthrough - Reports if you need more information about reports.
Allow ShareGate Desktop to display notifications on the Windows Taskbar and Action Center when a task is completed or when your license/trial is close to expiring. Notifications only appear when ShareGate Desktop is minimized.
Note: Only available on Windows 10.
Allows ShareGate Desktop to connect using invalid certificates.
This is toggled off by default.
Note: When you keep the default setting and attempt to connect using an invalid certificate, you will receive a warning prompt offering you the option to cancel or allow the connection.
It is recommended to keep the default settings in order to ensure that your automated tasks run as scheduled and that ShareGate Desktop stays up to date.
Toggle off to the first option disallow ShareGate Desktop to stay open in your system tray.
Toggle off the second option to disallow ShareGate Desktop to open at system startup.
Note: You can still exit ShareGate Desktop when it is open in your system tray. Just right click over the icon and select Exit.
Help improve ShareGate Desktop
Toggle off to disallow ShareGate Desktop to gather telemetry data on its usage (toggle on is the default).
This data is used when planning new features to better match what users are doing with ShareGate Desktop. No confidential information will ever be collected in this manner.
Enable Automatic Updates
Notifies you of your ShareGate Desktop version, and if there are updates available.
Keep the toggle on to allow ShareGate Desktop to Enable Automatic Updates. If you toggle off, you will be prompted when updates are available.
When an update is available, click the Restart and Update button to install the update immediately.
Note: ShareGate Desktop will only automatically download an update when in Idle Mode, meaning that it is minimized to the system tray and no tasks are active or migrations are running.
