Yes, ShareGate Desktop supports migrating MySites. However, there are restrictions associated with those sites.
- The user connected with ShareGate Desktop must have Site Collection Administrator permissions on the user's MySite to be able to have access to the site
- ShareGate Desktop cannot create the MySite at the destination, it must have been created prior to the migration
It is important to note that, even if the user connected with ShareGate Desktop is a Farm Administrator, that user will not have access to the MySite of any user other than himself. There are 2 ways to make that user a Site Collection Administrator for any given MySite:
- Ask every user with a MySite to grant Site Collection Administrator permissions to the user
- Give the user "Full Control" permissions on all zones for the web application containing the MySites, then connect to each MySite and grant Site Collection Administrator to the user
Please note that option 2 should be used carefully as allowing any user to have "Full Control" on the web application means that they are unrestricted for any sites within that web application. It is highly recommended to remove "Full Control" permissions once Site Collection Administrator permissions has been granted on all the necessary MySites.
