Certain enterprises require the use of proxy servers to connect to your network. When this is the case, you will need to set up a proxy connection in ShareGate Desktop. If you would like to know more about proxy servers, see the Microsoft article Working with Proxy Servers.
You have accessed your connection screen.
- Toggle on Connect using a proxy.
- Enter the Proxy host (domain name) of your SharePoint site.
- Specify your port number. By default, port 80 is used for HTTP traffic. For a list of network ports used by key Microsoft server products, see Network Ports Used by Key Microsoft Server Products.
- Sign in with the appropriate Host authentication information:
- Current Windows user: Connect using your current Windows session credentials.
- Other user: Connect by manually entering a username and password.
- Same as above authentication: Connect using the same credentials you entered for Authentication above.
- Enter your Username if needed.
- Enter your Password if needed.
- Click Connect.

Verify your proxy information
You can verify your proxy information in Windows with these steps:
- Select the Start button on the Windows taskbar.
- Type Control Panel.
- Select Control Panel.
- Go to Network and Internet -> Internet Options.
- Select the Connections tab.
- Click LAN settings.
In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog, you can see your proxy information in the Proxy server section.
