When loading a site column, ShareGate Desktop displays the following error:
Unable to load the Site Column. This may happen if the Site Column is corrupted.
This error occurs when a site column contains invalid data. Most of the time, the reason for this is that the site column is a lookup and tries to display a field that no longer exists. Normally, SharePoint defaults on the Title field in the web interface but in this case, SharePoint cannot find the resource and returns an error. Because of this, the app cannot display the column name.
If the site column is indeed corrupted, try following these steps :
- Go to the site settings of your SharePoint site in the destination.
- Click on Site columns in the Galleries section.
- Look for the name of the site column and click on it.
- Click Ok, this will cause SharePoint to apply the default value and fix the problem.
