When attempting to copy a document, ShareGate Desktop displays the following error:
Draft versions are not enabled on your list and only draft versions are available for copy.
|Any error code ending with: -028|
When copying documents, ShareGate Desktop will preserve the version history as it is at the source, but it will also respect the settings of the destination library. If the destination library only allows the creation of major (published) versions, ShareGate Desktop will only copy the major versions from the source, it will not copy the minor (draft) versions. If only draft versions are available at the source then ShareGate Desktop has nothing to copy, which results in this error.
There are 2 possible solutions to this issue:
- Set the destination library to allow draft versions. This can be done by going in the destination library settings in SharePoint and accessing the versioning settings.
- Make sure you have at least one major (published) version of the document at the source.
